Core Team
Lab4Living comprises of a small core team of people who are responsible for the strategic direction and the day-to-day management of activity. They are joined by Research Assistants who work on externally funded projects and by Research Associates who bring expertise from other departments and faculties across the University. Post-graduate and placement students, supervised by the team, are a part of the Lab4Living community, joined on an occasional basis by visiting researchers from other HEIs and overseas institutions.

Research Associates
Successful grant capture enables Lab4Living to draw on expertise from within the Art and Design Research and across the University on specific projects and research themes. Researchers currently working on Lab4Living projects include:
We share overlapping research interests with colleagues from within the Art & Design Research Centre (including Virginia Health – My Dangerous Loverboy; Prof David Cotterrell – War and Medicine; David Swann – ABC Syringe; Becky Shaw – ‘A’. The Christmas Party) and are also able to draw on expertise from beyond our research centre and across the University, including the Materials and Engineering Research Institute (MERI) and Faculty of Health and Wellbeing.
Beyond the University, we have formed close ties through long established and regular collaboration with a number of organisations including NIHR Devices for Dignity MedTech Co-operative, NIHR CLAHRC YH, and NIHR CYP MedTech.
We work in partnership with community groups, hospitals, cultural, academic and industrial organisations as we grow our community, our partners.
Honorary Research Fellows and Advisors
We are supported in our work by a number of national key leaders across design and health who act as advisors. These have included Dan Wolstenholme (formerly Clinical Research Fellow at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust); Professor Wendy Tindale (Scientific Director of Research Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust); Professor Sue Mawson (Professor of Health Services Research, Sheffield); Professor Paul Dimitri (Director of Research and Innovation, Sheffield Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust); Professor Bill Noble (Consultant Physician in Palliative Medicine, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust).
