‘Gestures of Care’ heading to International Health Humanities Consortium Conference 2023, Cleveland, Ohio

16 Mar 2023

Gestures of Care is a creative movement workshop developed by Michael Tan and Noemie Soula to provide the participants an opportunity to explore the nuances in nonverbal aspects of caring and their perceptiveness. The duo will present an excerpt version of the full workshop on 17 Mar 2023 at the International Health Humanities Consortium Conference, contributing to the conference’s theme on Mobilizing Selves, Transforming Structures.

Through this presentation, they ask:

What is the place of listening in care exchange? What does it mean to listen? Do we only listen with our ears (What else might be involved)? Can our body listen?

The creative movement activities engage the participants to reflect and explore ways to promote the manner we interact, socially, professionally and structurally by drawing attention to the value and importance of intentionality, embodied listening and attunement in care encounters and exchanges.
