Associate Professor Kaisu Koski is a cross-disciplinary artist and humanities scholar. She developed this work during a month-long art and science residency at Kilpisjärvi Biological Station in Finland in January 2022, supported by Research England’s E3 programm and Ars Bioarctica. Ars Bioarctica, an art & science program, focusses on the sub-arctic environment together with the Kilpisjärvi Biological Station of the University of Helsinki.
Rather than a matter of carbon reduction, City Reindeer considers the climate crisis a relationship problem. This series of interspecies picnics aims to begin restoring relationships with the nonhuman, starting with our relative, the Reindeer.
