Stories from the Pandemic at Sheffield Millennium Galleries

28 Feb 2023

A pop-up exhibition drawing from stories gathered during the Stories from the Pandemic project is taking place this week at Sheffield’s Millennium Galleries.

Stories from the Pandemic is a city wide project led by Opus, in partnership with Compassionate Sheffield, Lab4Living and Sheffield City Council. This 10 day mixed media exhibition, set in rooms of homes during lockdown, draws from the extensive range of stories that have been gathered during the project. These will form a lasting testimony and historical record of the pandemic’s impact on the individuals and the communities they live in and will feed into the city’s wider memorial activity. There will be a free programme of creative workshops and Compassionate Conversations to offer people a chance to reflect, share their stories and build confidence to support others through hard times.

Michael Tan and Helen Fisher worked with the partners on developing ways of engaging the community and gathering stories.

Stories collected and displayed in the pop-up exhibition will be held in the Sheffield Archives
