Ursula Ankey to present co-designed toolbox in ‘Innovations in arthritis healthcare’ track at major European clinical conference this May

17 May 2023

Lab4Living researcher and PhD student Ursula will be presenting her codesigned prototype research at the European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatoid Arthritis (EULAR) conference in Milan next week.

She will be giving an oral presentation entitled ‘Co-designing JIA toolbox: a proof-of-concept study assessing prototype innovation to help self-management in children and young people with rheumatic disease’. This is based on Ursula’s research to design and develop a product range to help children with arthritis lead more active and independent lives.

The conference, which runs 31st May to 3rd June, is ‘an extensive network of innovative minds working towards highlighting the latest scientific breakthroughs in clinical translational and basic sciences’.

While the focus of the conference is clinical, Ursula will be presenting in the track PARE (People with Arthritis and Rheumatism in Europe) which showcases activities and research bearing on the patient perspective and interest. Her topic within the track is ‘Innovations in arthritis healthcare’.

Funding was awarded from NIHR CYP MedTech through Sheffield Children’s Hospital, who have been working with Ursula to develop prototypes. Ursula is looking forward to sharing results from last November’s prototype trials with young people.
