Journeying through Dementia to be piloted in Canada.

23 Jan 2023

A Lab4Living research-informed product developed by Claire Craig and Helen Fisher will form the basis of a new study in Canada. Journeying through Dementia is a group based intervention aimed at supporting individuals recently diagnosed with the condition. The work has been adopted across a number of Health Boards in Scotland and next year will form the basis of a research enquiry in Quebec. This study, funded through the World Federation of Occupational Therapists, will be led by Patricia Belchior at McGill University, Montreal. Part of the funding will support Claire Craig to meet and share insights with therapists who are delivering the intervention.

Meanwhile in Scotland, group of occupational therapists in Inverclyde Health and Social Care Partnership have received the Innovation of the Year Award at the Inverclyde HSCP Staff Awards. The Award was given in recognition of the difference their delivery of the Journeying through Dementia programme has made to the lives of people with dementia accessing the service.
